Lady Knights come home second in Sumter SpikeOff Tourney
NCS PEYTON HOLLEY earned all-tourney honors in Sumter on Saturday.
More than 10 hours after starting play in Saturday’s Sumter SpikeOff Tourney, the North Central volleyball team came home second to champion Orangeburg-Wilkinson in the 15-team event. The Lady Knights won their pool by knocking off 4A Marlboro County, 5A White Knoll, 5A Irmo and 5A Carolina Forest all by identical 2-0 scores. Andy Johnson’s squad then, again, beat White Knoll in the quarterfinals in two sets before blanking Carolina Forest in two sets in the semifinals to set up a meeting with Orangeburg-Wilkinson in the best-of-three finale which began at 10 p.m. The Lady Bruins won the first set, 25-18, before NC took the second, 28-26.
