Bengals clamp down on Demons

You get the feeling that Randy Stokes would rather Blythewood had scored its four runs on a grand slam than the way they did in handing visiting Lugoff-Elgin a 4-0 loss last Friday night. The defeat dropped the Demons to 0-2 in Region 4-4A and 2-6 overall. The Bengals put up two runs in the second inning with one coming home on a bases loaded hit by pitch with the second plated by a sacrifice fly. An inning later, the hosts scored on a ground ball out to second base while in the sixth, BHS pushed a runner across from third on a wild pitch.“They manufactured all of their runs against us,” Stokes said. “When they got runners on base, they found ways to get them around.”L-E was out-hit by the Bengals, 9-4, with sophomore Gunner Smith having half of those on a 2-for-3 night.
