Blizzard stymies Irmo on one hit, 10-0

Lugoff-Elgin will carry a full head of steam into Thursday’s 4A District 5 softball playoff opener.The Lady Demons closed out their regular season with a 10-0 Region 4-4A win over visiting Irmo in a game stopped by the 10-run rule in the sixth inning on Monday night.Sophomore Erin Blizzard allowed just one hit on the night in evening her season record to 9-9 for James Marlow’s troops. Blizzard fanned 13 of the 18 outs while issuing one walk on the night.Kelsey Griham paced the Lady Demon offense with a single and a solo home run in four trips to the plate. She scored twice while driving in a run.The Lady Demons, who will travel to meet Region 5 runner-up Dutch Fork in Thursday’s 6 p.m. playoff opener, finished the regular season with an 11-10 record and a 6-4 mark in conference play.
