After having finished third in the Lady Wildcat Invitational in Lexington earlier this month, the Lugoff-Elgin varsity softball team won the 2016 Lady Rebel Invitational hosted by Byrnes High School last weekend. The Lady Demons went 5-0 over the two-day event defeating St. Josephs (3-2), Andrew Jackson (3-0), Dorman (5-0), Union (6-5) and Chesnee, 3-0. L-E junior pitcher Baleigh Lunsford was selected as the tournaments most valuable player while teammates Sophia Holland, Savannah Grigsby and Delaney Guerrero earned all-tournament team honors. Coach James Marlows squad improved to 11-2 overall and finished out in-season tourney action with a 9-1 record. The L-E junior varsity team also played for the tournament championship but lost to Union in the final game of that portion of the event.
