Having to use both his number one and 1A starting pitchers on the same night in Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to Richland Northeast, Lugoff-Elgin head coach Randy Stokes plans on giving the duo the weekend off.For the Demons to make a return to the 4A state playoffs they need --- at least --- one win in their final three Region 4-4A games. So, when Stokes and company host conference-leading Blythewood tonight and then, meet Camden on Saturday, neither Taylor Lunsford nor Zac Bowers is expected to be available. Instead, the pair will be saved for key starts with Ridge View and Irmo next Tuesday and Friday, respectively.Lunsford received the start on Tuesday and worked seven batters before being lifted in favor of Bowers, who went the final 5.1 innings of work in a road contest which saw the host Cavaliers answer a one-run L-E top of the first with a four spot in the bottom half of the opening frame. After the loss, which dropped his team to 2-5 in league play, Stokes was leaning toward giving Lunsford and Bowers the rest of this week off in order to rest for their next projected starts.“We don’t know what we’re going to do, yet,” Stokes said of his starting pitchers and relievers for tonight and Saturday’s 3 p.m. game at Camden.
