In the final pairing of a match which ended in controversy and confusion, Belton-Honea Path handed Lugoff-Elgin a 37-36 defeat in the semifinals of Saturday’s Red Raider Rumble held at Greenville High School. The haywire finish was part of a 4-1 day for Ted Monroe and his second-ranked --- in 4A --- troops which left the Upstate with a 25-3 record in dual matches with the losses coming by a total of four points. The one-point setback at the hands of fifth-ranked B-HP was L-E’s second one-point defeat of the year and first to a team not in the 5A classification.
