JOEY COUNTS ... L-E defensive end
Even the mere mention of the word “concussion” is enough to give Scott Jones a migraine. After a 2011 season in which several of Lugoff-Elgin’s two dozen season-ending injuries were the result of head injuries, a new round of the malady has hit the Demons’ camp before this season has even kicked off; this time, the concussions have struck the team’s offensive front. In the days leading up to tonight’s opener at Fort Mill, Jones said his team has been playing what amounts to a football version of the New York street card game, Three-card Monte.“The biggest obstacle we have right now is on the offensive line because we’re still playing a shuffling game with some of our offensive linemen,” said Jones, who begins his 11th season at the L-E helm.“We’re having some untimely injuries early. Josh Dunn and Dakota Shoars both received concussions early so we’re playing that game again. We’ve had to shuffle some guys around.
