Demons end 11 frustrating months by knocking off Chesterfield, 85-56

Derek Belton had not been able to smile like this after a game since the last time his Lugoff-Elgin basketball team played Chesterfield, some 339 days ago.Belton and his Demons closed last season with 14 straight agonizing losses which followed their lone victory of that campaign, a 72-58 victory over host Chesterfield on Dec. 27, 2011. Friday night it was same two teams, same result but a different site.L-E broke its 16-game skid in style as the hosts placed four players in double figures to thump Chesterfield, 85-56, inside the Demons Den. The victory came after Belton and company dropped their first two games of this season earlier in the week.“It was enormous,” Belton said of the win.
