Staring down at 97 yards and a Lugoff-Elgin defense, which was trying to hold onto a 24-21 lead with less than six minutes remaining in Friday’s state class 4A playoff opener, Ashley Ridge quarterback Cameron Cox saw more than green and brown grass in front of him. The six-foot senior saw opportunity. This time, however, fate stepped in as the visitors used a 49-yard hook-and-lateral play on fourth and 38 from their own 44, setting up Cox’s seven-yard scoring sweep.
