Maybe, this is not the best time for Lugoff-Elgin to be catching White Knoll. In the season’s first two weeks, the Timberwolves were breaking in a converted wide receiver at quarterback and stumbled mightily out of the box with an 0-2 record with a 49-21 loss to Fort Mill in the season-opener being followed by a 45-13 thrashing at the hands of Wando. Then, came an open week for Dean Howell’s charges and after that, things started clicking for tonight’s hosts. The extra week of practice proved beneficial for the Lexington County squad which knocked off Clover (41-36) and then humbled Swansea, 34-10, a week ago.Interim Lugoff-Elgin head coach Dave Thomas can only hope that his team can simulate the WK script. The Demons, who after one-sided losses in their first two games came up a touchdown shy against Nation Ford and West Florence, the latter being a 12-6 setback two weeks ago. Those two heart-breaking losses were followed by last week’s bye which Thomas hopes allowed his team to catch its collective breath as they prepare to head to white Knoll this evening.Thomas said the bye week came at the perfect time in what had been a summer of playing catch-up.
