Demons set sights on first win of season
KEYSHAWN MARTIN ... L-E quarterback
Facing a pass-happy Nation Ford offensive attack, what could possibly be the best sight for Lugoff-Elgin’s sore eyes tonight would be the Falcons to “have to” rather than “want to” go up top.In its first two games, Nation Ford had little choice but to throw the football to try and get back into the contest. Interim Demons’ head coach Dave Thomas is hoping his team can get the visitors to get into that same mode tonight.Cole Martin, the Falcons’ junior quarterback, threw for 300 yards on a 27-for-48 night in his team’s season-opening 48-28 loss to Forestview (N.C.) High. Last week, when NF got in a hole in a 52-27 loss to Boiling Springs, Martin was asked to air it out again, this time to the tune of some 300 yards.Saying he expects Martin to throw as many as “eight out of 10 times”, Thomas said the Falcons had no other choice than to start flinging the football all around the field the first two weeks of the season.“They were behind in games against Forestview and Boiling Springs and that may have had a little bit to do with it,” Thomas said of Martin’s gaudy passing numbers.
