On an evening when Lugoff-Elgin honored its five seniors while saluting member’s of the school’s 1992 AAA baseball state champions, it was visiting Irmo which gave the host team the biggest gift of all. After having loaded the bases with no outs in the first inning, Irmo botched a suicide squeeze attempt with Demons’ catcher Devin Walker applying the tag on a pair of runners in a double play which took any and all wind out of the Yellow Jackets’ sails. Eleven runs --- on as many hits later ---, L-E ended its regular season home slate with an 11-0 victory at Optimist Field. The Demons, which can finish either third or fourth in Region 4-4A, close the regular season tonight at conference champion Blythewood. Where Randy Stokes’ team opens state tournament play on Thursday will be determined after their game as well as that between Dutch Fork and Ridge View.
