JARELLE HANNAH WON THREE matches for Lugoff-Elgin in the 182-pound division at last weekends Southern Slam tournament held at Eastside High School.
Jarelle Hannah’s fourth-place finish in the 182-pound division helped the Lugoff-Elgin wrestling team to a 10th place finish in last weekend’s Steadman Hawkins Southern Slam tournament hosted by Eastside High School.A total of 42 teams from three states took part in the two-day event which was won by Archer High School of Georgia with 289 points. Lexington High School, the state’s top-ranked 4A program, was second with 178.5. L-E finished with 109.5 points, which was good for seventh among all Palmetto State entries.Hannah, a senior transfer from Chesterfield High School, won his first match by a pin before going 2-0 with a 20-7 major decision victory. Hannah then lost to DeAndre Sims of Alexander, Va., in the third round before he pinned Tanner Chambers of Liberty to advance to the third-place finale in which he lost to Ryland O’Brien of First Colonial (Va.) High School.L-E’s Harrison Kruger was fifth in the 152-pound division, defeating Nevin O’Brien of First Colonial in a 16-1, technical fall victory to take fifth place.Allen Jenerette gave the Demons a seventh at 220 pounds while teammate Brandon Noel finished in eighth place at 120 pounds.
