On a night when he recorded his first high school win, Lugoff-Elgin pitcher Justin Dorton was accorded an even bigger honor following Tuesday’s 7-3 victory over host Spring Valley. The game was the Region 4-4A opener for the visitors who improved to 2-0 overall and 6-0 when their pre-season tournament is factored in. Dorton, a freshman left-hander, worked the first six innings of Tuesday’s contest and gave up four hits, fanned one while issuing three walks before giving way to Brock Robinson, who came on in the middle of the seventh.
