Douglas, Mock go yard for L-E

Bailey Douglas and Hailey Mock each belted a home run as the Lugoff-Elgin softball team opened play in Region 4-5A with a 10-0 blanking of visiting Sumter in a game stopped in the fifth inning by the 10-run rule on Tuesday night.

Emma Spradley was the winning pitcher for first-year head coach Savannah Starling’s squad as she worked all five innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Eight different Lady Demons had a hit on the night with Douglas, Gracie Holland and Kaley Goerlich each driving in a pair of runs.

L-E JVs shut out Sumter: Abbey Crates shut out Sumter as the L-E junior varsity team opened the evening with a 2-0 victory over the Lady Gamecocks.
