Sometimes, you just tip your hat to an opponent and live to fight another day. After Chapin right-hander Brandon White led the Eagles to a 4-1 win over Lugoff-Elgin on Thursday, Demons’ head coach Randy Stokes gave the senior hurler a pat on the back. All that White, a Lander signee, did on this night was to stop the guests on four hits while fanning 11 for a Chapin squad which is ranked among the top five AAA teams in the state.“He was good,” Stokes said of White’s performance on the mound. “We struck out too many times, though. We had some opportunities to score runs, but we just never got the big hit when we needed it.”L-E scored the first run of the contest in the top of the third as Cody Mailly and Gunner Smith singled before Austin Hayes drew a two-out walk to load the bases.
