That grimace on the face of Randy Stokes spoke volumes.Standing a few steps beyond the first base bag, the Lugoff-Elgin head baseball coach talked, in halting sentences, about what he had just witnessed. For a team which had been shut out in their previous two games, Tuesday’s 5-2 loss to visiting Richland Northeast was hardly a step in the right direction. In fact, Stokes said, his team regressed on a night in which the Demons collected five hits while opening the door for the Cavaliers’ offense thanks to seven errors, including three in a three-run top of the first. The loss dropped the hosts to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in Region 4-4A play.“We don’t beat anybody tonight,” Stokes said of his team’s play.
