GUNNAR CATOE HAD MORE than 140 yards of offense in L-Es 35-20 loss to White Knoll on Friday.
LEXINGTON --- A slow start by Lugoff-Elgin allowed host White Knoll to race to a 28-7 halftime lead. But a dogged second half by the Demons made for some anxious moments as the Timberwolves hung on for a 35-20 victory over the guests from the West Wateree. In front of a huge homecoming crowd, L-E remained winless on the season while the hosts improved to 3-2 with each team having one more no-region game left on their schedules.Playing following the program’s first bye week in at least 10 years may have affected the Demons in a negative way. The homestanding Timberwolves held a three-score lead at the half and it just seemed worse with how L-E started the game in such a slow manner.Interim L-E head coach Dave Thomas was pretty straightforward and took the blame for his team’s fifth loss of the season.
