Without hesitation, Scott Jones decided to go for the two-point conversion and the possible win after Lugoff-Elgin closed to within 20-19 with 66 seconds left to play in Friday’s season finale against Sumter. Without his regular snapper available, it made the decision much easier for the Demons’ head coach. On a night in which there was nothing more to play for than pride and to send 24 seniors out with a win, L-E rallied from two touchdown deficits after both the second and third quarters to nearly put the visiting Gamecocks’ 4A state tournament berth in limbo.
