L-ES HALEY RANSON BEATS an Irmo player to this loose ball in Fridays season finale for the Lady Demons.
With no playoff spot on the line and with this being the final game of her team’s season, Lugoff-Elgin girls’ basketball coach Von Duncan had one piece of advice before her team took to the court to meet visiting Irmo on Friday.Duncan told the Lady Demons to go out, play hard and, most of all, have fun. While the end result, a 54-41 loss to the playoff-bound Yellow Jackets, was not the perfect outcome, Duncan was pleased with her team’s approach and play in their season finale.“I was looking for our girls to have fun,” said Duncan, whose voice choked with emotion from the senior night ceremony, held prior to the boys’ game. “This was the last hurrah for our seniors. We told them to do it big; leave it all on the court with no regrets.”Having as much, if not more, fun than any player on the floor was Lady Demon senior guard Dahiana Rodriguez, who finished her career with 22 points, second only to Irmo’s Ke’ Asia Jackson’s 24.
