L-E cant solve Elkins, DF
L-ES TAYLOR RAWL LOSES her helmet after a collision with Dutch Fork second baseman Meghan Murphy (5), who was covering the bag on Rawls leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning of Thursdays game.
In a classic case of either getting to a pitcher quickly or not at all, Lugoff-Elgin had Dutch Fork’s Hayley Elkins on the ropes early only to score one run off the sophomore right-hander.After having allowed the Lady Demons a run after they sent just two batters to the plate, Elkins bore down and pitched shutout ball the rest of the way while waiting for her offense to come around en route to a 7-1 Silver Foxes win in Thursday’s Region 4-4A softball game played at L-E.The loss, the third in their last three games, dropped James Marlow’s troops to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Elkins surrendered two hits in the first inning, another in the second and only one thereafter in a tidy four-hitter in which she fanned seven batters. Make no mistake about it, Elkins got better as the game went along.
