L-E duo earns Region 4-4A softball honors

TAYLOR RAWL, a sophomore catcher, was one of two L-E softball players to earn All-Region 4-4A honors.
A pair of Lugoff-Elgin sophomores were named to the All-Region 4-4A softball team as selected by the seven head coaches in the circuit.Breanna Mackey and Taylor Rawl were chosen to the 13-player squad off a Lady Demon squad which earned a spot in the state class 4A tournament after finishing fourth in conference play.The starting catcher for James Marlow’s squad, Rawl led the Lady Demons with a .375 batting average as well as in runs scored (21), hits (21), stolen bases (13-for-13), slugging percentage (.536) while belting the team’s only home run. She was also second on the team with nine runs batted in and with a pair of triples.Defensively, Rawl gunned down better than 40 percent of would-be base stealers.A pitcher/outfielder, Mackey was second behind Rawl in batting average for everyday starters as she hit at a .347 clip. She also tied for the team lead with 10 runs batted as well as with a pair of triples.
