L-E girls rally for 8-7 victory over LHS

Saving their best for last, the Lugoff-Elgin softball team spotted host Lexington a 7-0 lead after three innings before the Lady Demons scored the final eight runs of the night, including the winning tally in the top of the ninth for an 8-7 win.The non-conference victory gave Craig Marlow’s troops a 2-0 record.Alexis Blakeney singled home Kelsey Griham in the top of the ninth with the winning run for the visitors. In the bottom of the ninth, Erin Blizzard, who relieved starting pitcher Meagan Owens in the fourth inning, closed down the top of the Lady Wildcats’ order to end the game.Blizzard pitched six scoreless innings for her first win. The freshman gave up three hits while fanning a pair of batters.
