L-E netters double up Irmo

Lugoff-Elgin bracketed losses at first singles and second doubles with four singles victories as the Demons dropped visiting Irmo, 4-2, in a Region 4-5A tennis match played Thursday.

Head coach Jon Blevins’ Demons improved to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in conference action.

The wins for the hosts started at second singles with  Alex Hinton outlasting Sean Dougherty in a third-set tie-breaker, 4-6, 7-5, (1-0). Holden Roberts swept Hayden Felkel, 6-3, 6-4, at number three while Coby Morrison stopped Reese Petruzzi, 4-6, 6-2, (1-0), in fourth singles before  Andrew Boone took down Aiden Murphy at fifth singles, 7-6, 6-0.

Irmo won at first singles with Henry Cooper defeating Spencer Hinton (LE) 6-7, 6-2, (1-0). The Yellow Jacket pairing of Jack Ostergaard and Matthew Addison held off Xavier Hunt and Giordan Whitsett in second doubles, 6-4, 6-1.
