L-E netters double up Blythewood, 4-2

A year ago, the Lugoff-Elgin boys’ tennis team got their first taste of post-season competition as the Demons played their way into the state class 4A tournament.Well, don’t look now, but Edward Rickwood and his troops are off to a quick start and thinking playoffs again. One of the reasons for their optimism was a convincing 4-2 win over host Blythewood in a Region 4-4A match played on the Bengals’ home courts last Thursday afternoon.The win was the first time L-E had defeated Blythewood and, as Rickwood said, his players are hungry for more success this season.“Tennis is fairly new at L-E,” Rickwood said, “and now, we are having to compete at the AAAA level. My team was excited to make the playoffs last year.
