This was not the way she and her Lugoff-Elgin volleyball team would have scripted it, but Jessica Mullins and company still have some unfinished business left in front of themselves in this, the final week of the regular season. The Lady Demons, saw their 19-match win streak against conference opponents come to an end in last Thursday’s loss to Blythewood. It was the third time since 2012 in which Blythewood spoiled what was shaping up to be a perfect league campaign for L-E. Now, with two region matches bookending tonight’s 5:30 p.m. non-conference pairing at Camden, the Lady Demons are left to play the waiting game as to where they will be seeded come the start of the 4A state playoffs next week. Both BHS and L-E sport identical 7-1 marks in Region 4-4A and should they both get through a pair of beatable conference rivals this week --- L-E had a home match with Spring Valley on Tuesday followed by a trip to Dutch Fork Thursday ---, the top seed will be left up to the circuit’s tie-breaking system since the sides split their two pairings this season.“It will come down to points to determine the region champs,” Mullins said. “We’re hoping that those points fall in our favor, but we’ve had a very successful season.
