Murphy ready to 'lead off' new career after signing with USC-Lancaster
L-ES JACOB MURPHY signed a national baseball letter-of-intent with USC-Lancaster while flanked by his parents, Starr and Brian Murphy. Standing behind the Demon shortstop are, from left, L-E principal Tommy Gladden, L-E head baseball coach Randy Stokes and L-E athletic director Scott Jones.
For the better part of the past three seasons, Lugoff-Elgin baseball coach Randy Stokes could have saved himself the trouble of writing Jacob Murphy’s name atop his team’s batting order if he just bought a rubber stamp with the shortstop’s name on it. It will be a luxury which Stokes and the Demons will not have come next spring. On a day in which both player and coach admitted came all too quickly, on Monday, Murphy signed a national letter-of-intent to continue his academic and baseball pursuits at the University of South Carolina-Lancaster.
