With his team trailing Chapin, 7-0, after two innings in Saturday afternoon’s first game of the Carolina Ale House Classic, Lugoff-Elgin head baseball coach Randy Stokes never considered reaching for the panic button. More importantly, neither did his players. After scoring four runs to even things at eight in the bottom of the seventh, L-E used a walk-off single from Josh Ayer in the bottom of the eighth to take home the 9-8 victory in a battle between two teams ranked in the top five in the 4A preseason poll.
