Pellegrino leads Demons past Dogs in OT, 69-60
CAMDENS DARELLE SMITH PASSES his way out of trouble as he was sandwiched by a pair of Lugoff-Elgin defenders including Darius Custard (2) in second half action from Fridays game at the Dog Pound.
Like a cold car engine which takes a few tries before starting up, Lugoff-Elgin’s Jo Jo Pellegrino coughed and sputtered for the better part of three quarters of Friday’s non-region game with rival Camden. Once the senior guard’s engine warmed, however, both he and the Demons clicked on all cylinders in a 69-60 overtime victory against the host Bulldogs to even both teams’ records at 1-1 on the young season. Pellegrino, L-E’s leading returning scorer, was held without a basket from the field until finding the mark with the first of his four 3-point buckets with 3:18 left in the third quarter.
