Once the Lugoff-Elgin softball team arrived in Summerville for Monday's 4A Distict 8 softball game with the host Green Wave, the Lady Demons were forced to do a U-turn and return home as late afternoon rains in the Lowcountry made the field unplayable for the third round elimination game. L-E will return to Summerville tonight to play the game at 6 p.m. Earlier, as the Lugoff-Elgin baseball team was on its way to Ashley Ridge for Monday's 4A Distict 3 baseball elimination game, Demons' head coach Randy Stokes received a call telling him that the rain had rendered the hosts' playing field unplayable as the guests returned home. That third round contest will be played tonight at 7 p.m. The winners of L-E's softball and baseball games will advance into Wednesday's district finals at Dutch Fork and Lexington, respectively.
