Six L-EMS wrestlers win at Midlands Invitational

Six Lugoff-Elgin Middle School wrestlers kicked off the 2012-13 season by winning championships at Saturday’s Midlands Invitational, held at Dutch Fork Middle School.The eight-school events saw more than 220 wrestlers take to the mats in the one-day tournament.Winning titles for Ted Monroe’s Leopards --- and their respective weight classes --- were: Bryan Robinson (92 pounds), Elijah Dixon (98), Taylor Catoe (110), Noah North (124), Wesley Foskey (131) and Montreal Lee (146).A trio of L-EMS wrestlers finished second including Devin Wilson (80), Austin Radvansky (110) and Daniel Branham (162).Tonight, the Leopards kick off their regular season when they host Stover and North Central middle schools in a 5:30 p.m. start. Admission is $3.Saturday, Monroe and company will head to Irmo for the first round of two qualifiers for the Carolina Invitational. The second qualifier will be held at L-EMS next month.
