Knowing his team trailed, 6-0, before the first two wrestlers took to the mat on Wednesday, Lugoff-Elgin wrestling coach Even Moxie hardly had a warm, fuzzy feeling about how that night’s pairing with visiting Rock Hill would turn out.When the Demons’ heavyweight did not make weight, it was at best, a six-point swing. At worst, it would be a 12-point discrepancy.Those few pounds made a big difference at evening’s end as the seventh-ranked Bearcats left the Demons Den with a 37-29 victory over the eighth-ranked hosts in the regular season opener for L-E.“Coming in, when you knew you were going to have to give up a forfeit at heavyweight, it’s tough,” Moxie said. “If our heavyweight wrestles and pins their kid, we win the match.
