Terriers Singleton piles up pre-season football honors

SPARTANBURG --- Former Lugoff-Elgin football standout Jared Singleton has not played the first game of his senior season at Wofford College, but he is already racking up pre-season honors.The 6-foot-2, 309-pound Singleton is entering his third season as a full-time starter for Mike Ayers’ squad. He is coming off a junior campaign in which he was named a first team All-Southern Conference selection at center by the league’s coaches, a third team FCS All-America choice by The Sports Network and fourth-team FCS All-American selection from Phil Steele’s Football Preview following a season in which he set a new school single season record with 224 knockdown blocksComing into the 2013 campaign, Singleton, a finance major at Wofford, is picking up where he left off. Last Wednesday, the 2009 L-E High graduate was named as a first team preseason Southern Conference offensive lineman by a vote of the coaches in the circuit.
