The Lugoff-Elgin Blue Monster

The ABLE Club of South Carolina, the official booster club of Lugoff-Elgin High School athletics, dedicated the newly erected batters eye at the schools Optimist Field prior to the Demons baseball game with visiting Irmo on April 22. L-E head baseball coach, Randy Stokes, is shown handing a bat to Scott Conley, CEO of the Mid-Carolina Credit Union, which worked in corporate sponsorship with the ABLE Club in building the structure. Also pictured is the Demons varsity baseball team, L-EHS and ABLE Club officials, representatives of the Lugoff Optimist Club along with those who gave their time and talents toward the construction of the wall. L-E athletic director Scott Jones and ABLE Club Chairman Marcos Catoe and Vice-Chairman Jeff Robinson also used the occasion to thanks the volunteers who gave of their time, equipment and resources to help complete the project. Those individuals included Mike Branham, Troy Jordan, Matthew Grigsby, Tommy Grainger, Shawn Bradley, Jeff Branham, Mike Marthers and George Little. The batters eye is painted with a blue background which faces Highway 1, while inside the park, batters see the baseball coming at them from a dark green background.
