Mallory Truesdale scored a pair of goals while goalkeeper Kendal Wise held the Richland Northeast offense at bay as the Lady Demons’ soccer team blanked RNE, 5-0, in Thursday’s Region 4-4A match. Truesdale, a sophomore, opened the scoring for Rebecca Sofish’s team some four minutes into the first half off of a cross from classmate Lily Jackson. Junior Erin Belcher also scored off an assist from Jackson in the first half while senior forward Abby Capps netted the third goal off an assist from Belcher. Truesdale closed out the first half with an unassisted goal as the visitors carried a 4-0 lead into intermission. Belcher capped the scoring, finding the back of the net with a blast in the second half. The Lady Demons stepped out of conference play last Monday only to come out on the short end of a 5-4 decision at Gilbert in a pairing which was knotted at 3-3 at halftime. Jackson had a hat trick in the loss. Jackson delivered the first L-E goal when she drilled home a penalty kick after being fouled in the box. The second goal was scored by senior Kadyn Evans after Jackson was again fouled in the box, resulting in a second PK. Jackson continued the first half scoring by putting in an unassisted goal before scoring her third goal, thanks to an assist from Capps, in the second half of play.
