COLUMBIA – Sometimes, you just have to tip your hat to an opponent and live to fight another battle. With his team staring up at a 5-0 deficit against Spring Valley and pitcher Taylor Guerrieri Tuesday night, Lugoff-Elgin head coach Randy Stokes decided to pull his starting pitcher, Will Dorton, from the mound to rest him for a go against visiting Dutch Fork tonight. The move was a smart one, given Dorton’s low pitch count and the fact that the visiting Demons never got anything going against Guerrieri, who fired a no-hitter in a 10-0 Vikings win in a game stopped in the bottom of the sixth inning by the 10-run rule.
