WK strikes quickly in upending Demons, 10-3

Two nights after a mistake-filled loss to Region 4-4A foe Richland Northeast, Lugoff-Elgin baseball coach Randy Stokes was interested to see how his team would react in Thursday’s non-conference game at White Knoll. On a cold evening, the results were not what Stokes was looking for --- as the host Timberwolves came away with a 10-3 win --- but he liked his team’s demeanor and focus.“We’ve demanded a lot out of our kids over the past couple of days and, we took some things away from them, just to see how they would react,” Stokes said. “Through their actions in this game, our kids showed that they were focused.”The Demons sent out five pitchers on Friday with freshman right-hander Brock Robinson working into the third inning. He was followed to the mound, in succession, by Jake Brazell, who worked two innings, before Cody Tinker and Seth Nelson took their turns.Stokes said the pitching situation was planned rather than by going with the situation on the field.“We knew that we were going to throw a lot of people in this game,” he said.
