Columbia hands Lady Knights first loss

Dreams of a perfect season came to an end for the North Central volleyball team as the state’s top-ranked AA squad was dealt a 3-2 loss at Columbia last Thursday night.The defeat gave the Lady Knights a 14-1 overall record and was their first setback in Region 3-AA in nine outings.Andy Johnson’s troops, which defeated the Lady Capitals in three games in Boonetown last month, lost the first game on Thursday, 25-21, before rebounding to win the second contest, 25-15. The hostesses went up, 2-1 with a 25-22 win in game three before NC evened things at 25-17. The Lady Caps would win the tie-breaker, 15-8.Erin Humphries had a big night at the net with 19 kills to go along with 18 digs and four aces.
