Fairfield Central sweeps NC

Fairfield Central broke out to an 18-6 lead after one quarter and never let North Central back into the game in taking home a 59-40 victory in a boys’ basketball game played inside The Castle in Boonetown last Friday night.
The loss gave the host Knights a 1-4 record after the first go-through in Region 3-AA play. Andy Johnson’s squad fell to 7-8 overall in the setback.
The third-ranked Griffins (4-1 in 3-AA) extended their lead to 33-12 at halftime and carried a commanding 52-24 advantage after three quarters.
Senior center Kawan Hough led the Knights with 14 points and seven rebounds. Junior William Jenkins was next with eight points and four caroms while seniors Lamont Frazier and Banyon Sullivan added five points and two rebounds each.
In the girls’ game, fifth-ranked Fairfield Central sent the Lady Knights to their fifth conference loss in as many league outings in tripping up Mitch Lowder’s troops in Friday’s opener..
Freshman Abigail DuRant led the Lady Knights with four points.
