Freebies lead Lions past NC

Lewisville made the most of its three hits in scoring seven runs to take a 7-3 win over visiting North Central in Monday’s regular season opener for both teams. The Knights were their own worst enemy in this non-region pairing as they committed three errors while their pitchers issued seven walks in a game in which the host Lions scored five times in the bottom of the second --- after a first inning NC error led to the game’s first run --- to take a commanding 6-0 lead. NC senior Tyler Bowers came on in relief of starter Chase Stephens in the third inning and proceeded to throw 3.1 innings of no-hit ball while fanning four and walking a batter.
