High-flying Raiders upend Knights, 40-12

If you call an entire team emptying the bench to celebrate a touchdown in the end zone and a group of school-aged youngsters working the chains and then, leaving their duties during the middle of the game then, yes, this was your typical Friday scene at Bolden Stadium in Columbia.On a night which got crazier as the game went on, it was host Keenan scoring the game’s final 28 points as the Raiders dealt North Central a 40-12 loss in the Region 3-AA opener for both sides.The setback came on the heels of the Knights’ emotional one-point win over rival Andrew Jackson one week earlier. It also came on a night in which NC head coach Louis Clyburn suspended several of his players for violating various team rules.In spite of not having several key cogs, the fifth-year Knights boss said he had no choice but to bench the offending players for this contest.“We were without some of our weapons,” Clyburn said of the suspensions. “We were a little short-handed, but we had some young guys go out there and who stepped up for us.
