Taking the early lead and not giving it up, the North Central boys’ basketball team evened its record after two games with a 61-51 victory over host McBee in a non-region game played last Thursday night.
Andy Johnson’s troops were led by a 20-point, 12-rebound night from senior center Kawan Hough.
The guests broke to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and extended that to 33-20 at halftime. The Panthers trimmed the deficit to 46-40 after a 20-point third quarter only to see the Knights have enough gas in the tank to come home with the victory.
After Hough’s double-double, Banyon Sullivan added 15 points and four rebounds for the Knights while Omar Johnson scored 11 points while pulling down eight rebounds. William Jenkins added eight points and four caroms for NC.
After hosting McBee on Tuesday night in Boonetown, the Knights will be on the road to meet Lugoff-Elgin tonight in a doubleheader which opens with the girls’ game at 6 p.m.
