North Central Middle School’s annual summer reading celebration offers students a choice of a free book from selections recommended by the South Carolina Junior Award Nominee list and follows up it up with a day of engaging and exciting activities planned around those books in the fall. When the school year begins, the school’s faculty works in groups to organize activities and guest speakers that relate to topics and themes of those books. The focus of these activities is to create a meaningful and memorable experience around the summer reading book, in hopes of enriching their reading life and fueling a love of reading at a critical time in their lives.
