King leads four Knights on all 3-A baseball team

Led by player of the year Grayson King, four members of the North Central baseball team were named to the All-Region 3-A squad.The team was selected by a vote of the six head coaches in the circuit.King was joined on the team by Knight teammates Tyler Bowers, Broderick Gaither and Raijon Jones.King, a junior pitcher/infielder/outfielder, led Robbie Cash’s charges with a .444 batting average and a .819 slugging percentage. The third-year starter and 2011 class A All-State selection topped the charts for the Knights in hits (32), runs batted in (26), doubles (2) and home runs with four.On the pitching mound, the right-hander had six of NC’s nine wins on the season. He had a 3.19 earned run average while opponents batted just .179 against him.In 63.2 innings of work this past season, King fanned 100 batters and issued 36 walks.Bowers, an eighth-grader who joined King on the 2011 class A All-State squad, did not slow down in his second season as a varsity starter.
