Knights cruise past Cavs in opener

Setting the tone early, the North Central boys’ basketball team kicked off the Andy Johnson era with a 76-39 win over visiting Robert E. Lee Academy in last Thursday’s season opener played inside The Castle in Boonetown.Johnson moved into the head coach’s spot after former coach Chad Dixon was named assistant principal at NCHS last spring.The Knights roared to a 24-5 lead after one quarter and used a 20-point second stanza to carry a 44-18 lead into halftime. The host led, 56-21, heading into the final quarter.Junior center Kawan Hough led three NC double-digit scorers with 17 points. He also collected six rebounds.
