Knights gets past Shamrocks, 26-14
Reggie O
REGGIE OUTTEN RUSHED for 124 yards and a touchdown in North Centrals win over Eau Claire on Friday.
On a night in which North Central needed a win in a big way, the Knights went big in a 26-14 homecoming win over visiting Eau Claire on Friday.Getting touchdowns from two of the biggest players on their roster, Louis Clyburn’s troops snapped a three-game skid, won for the first time in three Region 3-AA outings and took a step toward a possible first round state playoff home game. After having played from behind the past three Friday nights, NC rattled off the first 20 points of the game and let its defense carry to load in the victory. The hosts started the scoring early when Reggie Outten, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound running back bulled his way into the end zone from two yards out with the first score of the game to give the hosts a 6-0 lead. Outten would finish the game with a career-best 124 yards rushing on 32 carries.Outten became the work horse by necessity after the Knights’ leading rusher, Tristan McCathern, left the game with an ankle injury after one carry.“Tristan injured his ankle in the Andrew Jackson game and played through it,” said Clyburn. “When he went down, I told our defensive coaches to get somebody ready to play (linebacker) for Reggie because we were going to use him mainly on offense.“This was one of those times where if things go bad, it can start going downhill for you, but we did not miss a beat with Reggie at running back.
