When the four teams convened for the class A Upper State baseball championship tournament last spring, North Central was the proverbial odd man out.Three of the four squads in the double-elimination event were the Knights’ colleagues from Region 3-A. Eventual state champion Chesterfield defeated fellow 3-A foe Lewisville for the Upper State crown with another conference colleague, Great Falls, joining Christ Church to complete the Upper State field.North Central was two wins away from making it an all-Region 3-A grouping as Robbie Cash’s crew fell to Christ Church in the District I championship. As tough as the competition is for the Knights in the post-season, it virtually pales to the gauntlet which they must navigate through in order to make the second season.“If we can get out of this conference, we can do something when we get into the playoffs,” Cash said of the quality and depth of the conference. “Last year, three of our teams won their district finals.
