Knights host AJ in playoff opener

North Central will host its first state playoff game since the 1994 season when the Knights welcome arch-rival Andrew Jackson to Boonetown for Friday’s first round AA Division II Upper State contest.Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Knights Stadium.This will be the first time North Central has hosted a post-season contest since a 14-7 win over Jonesville in the second round of the 1994 class A state playoffs.Friday’s pairing marks the second time the two neighboring schools will have met this season. On Sept. 21, in a regular season game played in Kershaw, the Volunteers scored their fourth straight win in the series with the Knights with a 42-6 victory.North Central, the number 8 seed, will carry a 5-5 mark into the game following Friday night’s 57-6 loss to Fairfield Central. Andrew Jackson will come in with a 4-6 mark after falling to Central, 37-0, in its regular season finale.Advance tickets for Friday’s state playoff contest will be on sale at both schools beginning on Tuesday.
