North Central opened the Jason Brazell era with a convincing 72-6 victory over rival Andrew Jackson in Tuesday’s first wrestling match of the season. The pairing was the first for the victorious Knights with Brazell at the helm. Brazell took over the reins to the program when former head coach, Britt Gardner, took an assistant principal job at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School last spring.Appropriately enough, NC senior Daniel Witmore, who won the 2011-12 AA-A state championship at 195 pounds, was the first Knight to step onto the mat. And, Witmore wasted little time in giving the hosts a 6-0 lead as he pinned Nathan Dunlap in the first period of their 220-pound contest.NC heavyweight David Martin made it 12-0 with a forfeit.
