Knights roll to three consecutive victories

This was hardly your typical non-conference baseball game. After his team had cut Lewisville’s lead to 7-3 after four innings last Thursday, North Central head coach Robbie Cash knew his troops had an ace in the hole if they wanted to beat the state’s second-ranked class A team. What Cash did was to bring in senior Grayson King to the mound in the bottom of the fifth. All the right-hander would do was shut the door on the Lions while the NC offense rallied for six runs in the final three frames to come out of Richburg with a 9-7 win.One night later, the Knights rallied from a quick 5-0 hole to thump Keenan, 15-5, in the Region 3-AA opener for both sides. Saturday afternoon, NC completed its extended weekend with a 7-6 win over host Camden Military Academy. One constant through what was a 3-1 week for the Knights --- which started regular season play with an 8-5 loss at Andrew Jackson last Monday --- was the hitting of pitcher/outfielder Broderick Gaither.
